SeedBroadcast

OVERVIEW
What stories will your seeds share? SeedBroadcast is a creative broadcasting platform for agri-Culture at its roots: encouraging the seeds, voices, local wisdom, and ecologies that keep food alive and vibrant. In 2014, the SeedBroadcast project SWAP will perform a public seed swap and seed story shout out with partnering food and seed sovereignty organizations, gardeners, farmers, and cultural ambassadors. During this event, SWAP will invite seed savers from around the region to exchange seeds and local wisdom, while sharing seed stories live and through multi-media interviews. This public performance will also reach out to local residents as collaborative participants encouraging community pollination and broadcasting, as well as local food and seed growth.
The collective hub of SWAP is the Mobile Seed Story Broadcasting Station. This retrofitted bread truck is a solar powered, grassroots-roving, Seed Story shout-out vehicle that activates interconnections between people, seeds, and agri-Culture through performance, listening and sharing of Seed Stories. The Broadcast Station also functions as a resource gathering hub, an open-source exchange center, and a recording studio, for conducting audio interviews. Audio Seed Stories are played through the Broadcast Station and distributed through our online public website.
SWAP will also include a corresponding installation of large format photographs, interactive multi-media, and a sculptural seed lab where visitors can explore seeds, listen to seed stories, and participate in a SWAP seed library. SWAP-produced materials will be concurrently distributed through the Mobile Seed Story Broadcasting Station and its social media networks.

IMPACT
EVERYONE EATS = FOOD = SEEDS = FOOD = HUMAN RIGHT = GROW FOOD = GROW SEEDS = SAVE SEEDS = SWAP SEEDS = GROW MORE FOOD = EVERYONE EATS FOOD!
We are growing this from the soil up. The cultural importance of seed saving cannot be understated. It is a practice marginalized by popular culture and dominated by a global empire, which is slowly stripping away peoples right to save seeds, grow food, and keep communities empowered through their own agency and through their personal stories. SWAP will honor these stories, seeds, and people and encourage the sharing of creative, radical seed action with everyone who participates.
